Pompano Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Happy New Year! What a great year we had fishing in 2016. Now with 2017 here, we hope to have another great year of fishing. We have mostly been fishing the edge for sailfish the past few weeks. For the most part we have caught sailfish on every trip. The trips we haven't caught any sailfish are the days with no current. Current is the number one factor when targeting sailfish. On our best day we went 3 for4 on sailfish. We have also managed to catch a few Mahi, Kingfish and Bonita while fishing for sailfish.

We have not had any Swordfish trips the past few weeks. That's a good thing as with this time of year the seas are usually very rough in the Gulfstream. The boats that did manage to get out to the Gulfstream on a few calm days we had, did manage to catch a few big swordfish over 300 lbs.
The sailfish bite has picked up due to the strong cold front that just pushed thru South Florida. These cold fronts are the right recipe to fire up the sailfish action.
If you are looking to catch sailfish, now is the best time of year. I have a few openings left in January and for right February is pretty much open. So give me a call or send me an email so we can catch you some sailfish.
Catch Em Up,
Capt. Mike Busse
