Summer Time

Capt. John McDow
May 31, 2012
Port St. Joe - Saltwater Fishing Report

We are definitely into a summer time pattern. This week was much slower than the last two weeks. The bite has been good early in the morning but the trout bite really slows down by about 10am. We caught limits of trout on every full day charter this week but we didn't find any huge fish and we caught a lot of 14-15" fish that we had to release to catch again another day. There were a few redfish around and a few flounder. The king and spanish bite was good all day both in the bay and off of the beach and the tarpon and sharks are thick on the beach and around the cape. In fact we caught 17 sharks in 3 hours of fishing on Saturday morning. We caught big kings and spanish on a Sat. kayak trip and then got blown all over the bay on Monday on another kayak trip but still managed a few trout before our arms were too worn out to battle the wind. Monday afternoon and Tuesday had to cancelled because of Tropical Storm Beryl.
