Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

I had a father and son on board vacationing t club med, the son was 13 and an absolute die hard fisherman. We cleared the inlet at 7:30 seas were nice and flat. I went north east to a spot I noticed heading toward the snapper hole in 60 feet of water. When I got in the area it was alive with bait everywhere. I deployed my minkota trolling motor and started searching for the combination of bait and good structure. I found an area where the reef came up over 5 feet from the surrounding area and bait all around us. I hit the anchor button and we dropped the lines. The sea water temp was 83.5 degrees we had great clarity you could see the balls of bait 30 feet below us. As the charter fished with cut squid I used a Sebeka rig and jigged for live bait. I put a few sardines in the boat in between helping them bait up and remove fish. They were catching a nice assortment of grunts and lane snappers. They also caught a few large jacks and some real nice size porgies. As I expected with so much bait around the normal predators arrived as well sharks and barracudas I put some live bait out on a float and got it away from the boat then we took second live bait and put it on a bait runner outfit. The sardine went out there a minute and he was hooked up with a barracuda, by the end of the day he caught about a dozen barracuda we kept 2 and released the rest.
