Muttons in 40 feet of water

Capt. Mark Rosen
October 16, 2018
Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

I took a group out fishing today. We fished north of Fort Pierce inlet in 40 feet of water. We brought home a bunch of lanes, a legal mutton just over 18" and a legal trigger and lots of grunts.
The seas were somewhat rough forecast was 2 to 3 there were a lot more 3s then 2s with a bunch of 4 to keep you alert. Wind was blowing out of the SE about 15 knots. Clarity was pretty poor only about 5 foot of visibility water temp was 82 degrees very little grass. The mutton was caught on a whole sardine with the tail snips off on a 30 foot leader with a 4 oz egg sinker
The lanes were all caught on chicken rigs with squid and cut grunts
