Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

I took three members from the Port St Lucie fishing club out to the reef on Friday. We started at the close reef off Fort Pierce in 20 feet of water the fishing was slow so after 30 min we headed to the 60 foot reef 6 miles of Fort Pierce. The water clarity was good around 25 feet water temp was 74 degrees. The seas were 2 to 3 foot to start the day it was windy and over cast and a bit chilly in the morning. We got some nice lane snappers, a couple of small grouper, a black drum we released as well, a few white boned porgies. We were using cut squid for bait and then started using cut grunts. We were using triple hook chicken rigs with 3/0 hooks on 40 pound pick Andy line with 4 ounces of weight. There were a lot of barracudas in the area we had several on but the bit off we finally boated one. By noon the seas has started building up so we called the trip early.
