Snapper hole bottom fishing

Capt. Mark Rosen
April 17, 2016
Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

I had a charter out to the snapper hole. The seas were flat with very genital swells, the water temp was 78 degrees and visibility was at least 30 feet down. We caught 2 dolphins, one took live bait up on top and the second swam near the boat and took tossed bait. We had a nice king fish on as well, he took a live bait up on top we could see him about 15 feet below the boat when all of a sudden a hammerhead shark appeared the king made a run as did the shark and few seconds later the king was swallowed whole by the shark. We only caught 2 snapper there both were to short to keep but the trigger fish were very plenty full. We brought hope 19 nice size trigger fish caught on both cut squid and strips of cut grunt. We also released at least 10 trigger fish that were just legal size and a lot of smaller ones. We were using triple hook chicken rigs and several times the charter brought up 2 trigger fish at the same time, each time it included a large trigger on the top hook and a second smaller trigger on the lower hook.
