Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report
I took a 3 person charter north of the snapper hole in 90 85 feet of water. The water temp was 78 degrees and clarity very good, seas were 2 feet. The current we running about 1 knots bit the Minkota trolling motor held us on spot. The depth sounder showed a lot of life on the bottom. We were getting a lot of grunts and small vermilion snapper at first. We were using cut squid, after we got a few grunts I put 2 out on top alive and 1 on the bottom alive. We had a nice dolphin hit the live bait closest to the boat, everyone got the other lines out of the water. The dolphin started to run so I came off anchor watch and we started chasing him down. We finally got the fish alongside the boat and I gaffed him. After the fight we were about a quarter mile from our where we started, so I went to another spot I had marked but never fished, the spot was very close to where we ended. There was less life on it but I was marking some fish, so we tried it. We started getting some nice sea bass and caught a few that were over 13" I put the live grunt back on the bottom it wasn't there a minute and it got hit, A nice 22; red grouper . By the end of the day we had a nice catch of yellow tail snapper, vermilion snapper, gray snapper and Lane snapper, to go along with our grouper and dolphin.
