South Indian River Fishing Report

Capt. Charlie Conner
June 20, 2014
Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore:

Mornings have been wonderful out on the water lately. Afternoons....well, that's another thing entirely. Afternoon thunderstorms have been a daily routine and that is your typical summertime weather pattern this time of year. Getting on the water early means you have the morning to enjoy the fishing and you can get back to the dock before the storms arrive. There have been some violent storms recently so plan your trips wisely and stay safe out there.

We have enjoyed a variety of fish on recent adventures. Greg, Mike and Kyoko found a variety of fish on their adventure. Mike had the best day with a couple nice trout and a four foot Bonnethead shark to top off the trip. Bob had a decent trout bite on the flats on a beautiful morning. The trout bite has picked up on the grass flats for us this week. Fishing on grass flats in three to five feet of water has worked best for us. You can find some shallow at first light on top water lures and move to the deeper flats as the sun rises. DOA shrimp, Deadly Combos and live bait will all get you some trout bites. Our redfish bite was a little slower this past week. We are still finding them hanging under mangroves around the river. The snook bite around the jetties has been a steady bite for anglers fishing at night. You can find lots of jacks and ladyfish throughout the river to keep the kids busy. June offers lots of fishing opportunities around the area.

Offshore has been a super bite lately on the dolphin in 150' to 180' of water while trolling ballyhoo. The bottom bite has also been good on snapper and grouper on the wrecks and reefs. The weather has cooperated for the offshore anglers this past week. Anglers have been waiting for good weather and taking advantage of the good bite to enjoy some good catches this week. Enjoy the summer and have lots of fun on the water!

Remember, as always, fishing is not just another hobby……it's an ADVENTURE!

Good Fishing,
Captain Charlie Conner
