South Indian River Fishing Report

Capt. Charlie Conner
March 31, 2016
Port St. Lucie - Saltwater Fishing Report

South Indian River Fishing Report 3/30

Inshore:

Warmer weather is here to stay! Lots of sunshine has greeted anglers along the Treasure Coast lately. We are dealing with the windy days as usual, but the weather has definitely improved for us. Water temperatures have reach the high seventies this week and the fishing has been very good most days. As we transition into summer patterns, you can expect lots more of the same conditions in March.

It has been another fun week on the water. A good variety of fish caught and nice photo opportunities as well. Mike and Mike, Jr. found snook, snapper, blues and croakers on the catch list. Keith, Cai, Turner and Frank had fun with jacks, blues, ladyfish and a big goliath grouper. Everyone enjoyed watching Frank battle a big jack in the inlet. Steve and Mike found a variety of fish. Mike topped off the day with a nice trout and big jack. Sam and Russ were after redfish and snook. They caught another variety of fish, but did land a decent short snook. Russ won honors for the day by catching a 26" and 28" redfish.

There are still lots of sheepshead and snapper around the river willing to bite on a live or dead shrimp. We are finding our redfish both under docks and around the mangroves lately. Our trout have come from south of Fort Pierce. Try a DOA Deadly Combo to locate the trout. Snook fishing has been good around the inlet, bridges and mangroves this week. There are some mackerel, jacks and bluefish in the inlet area. It's a fun time of year to get out fishing!

Be aware that the boat traffic around Fort Pierce has seen a huge increase lately. As anglers come up from the Stuart area to get away from the Lake Okeechobee water in the St. Lucie River, you can expect a more crowded area around here. Be aware of boaters around you while out there!

As always, remember, fishing is not just another hobby....it's an ADVENTURE!!

Good Fishing and Be Safe,
Captain Charlie Conner
