Sarasota - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing this time of year is generally about action as most of my clients are families and fairly casual anglers. The weather was fantastic and that translated into fishing the deep grass flats and passes, focusing on action and variety. Clients going out on Sarasota fishing charters hooked speckled trout, bluefish, jacks, ladyfish, gag grouper, sharks, and more casting 1/4 ounce Bass Assassin jigs in glow/chartreuse in Big Sarasota Pass, and just about every flat from the pass north to Long Bar on the west side of Sarasota Bay produced steady action. We also did a little casting and trolling small Rapala X-Raps in area creeks and canals, catching speckled trout to 18", snook, and jacks. A short river trip produced snook, redfish, jacks, and ladyfish using BX Minnow plugs.
