Bass and snook hitting plugs in Sarasota rivers.

Capt. Jim Klopfer
December 6, 2011
Sarasota - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been good in the Myakka River both in the state park and below in the tidal portion near Border Rd. Low water levels have the fish congregated in deeper holes. Bass and snook are hitting plugs (firetiger Rapala X-Rap, size 06). The best action has been fishing outside bends with fallen timber. Live worms on the bottom in 6 to 8 feet of water are producing bluegill to 10", shellcracker, stumpknocker, channel and white catfish, and tilapia. Cooling water temperatures seem to have helped get them biting. A couple od good cold fronts should really kick it up a notch!
