Sarasota - Saltwater Fishing Report

Anglers experienced fast action this week, mostly at the Middlegrounds and in Big Pass. Ladyfish were thick with bluefish speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, and flounder mixed in. Bass Assassin Sea Shad baits in Glow and red/gold shiner were very productive. The bars out if front of Big Pass were covered up with breaking fish on the outgoing tide. Pilchards and threadfin herring are still around and produced snook and jack crevelle in Robert's Bay.

Laszlo Osz from and 3 friends from Hungary had a good charter on Tuesday afternoon. Despite their lack of experience and the language barrier, the gang had a good trip with a lot of action.
Jon Pritchard from Indianapolis, IN, his wife and friends were in town for a wedding and went out on a charter Thanksgiving morning. The bite was on at the Middlegrounds, then slowed as the tide quit. A move to Big Pass produced more fish and then I spotted a bunch of activity out on the bar. For the last hour it was pretty much a fish on every cast as thousands of ladyfish were feeding on bait.
I finished up my week with Butch Searle and his son Trey from Merritt Island, FL. Once again we started off with good action on bluefish and ladyfish at the Middlegrounds using Bass Assassin jigs. After a bit we decided to change it up, and I caught some bait and headed south to Robert's Bay. There was a lot of boat traffic, but we managed several snook and a bunch of jack crevelle before heading in.
