Sarasota Florida Fishing Report

Capt. Terry Frankford
June 25, 2011
Sarasota - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Report 6/25/2011 – Capt. Terry Frankford

Early morning starts beat the heat for summer fishing…

The Reelin & Chillin has caught Snook, redfish, triple tail, seatrout, mackerel and small sharks making for fantastic light tackle action. Anglers have enjoyed mostly seatrout and a few triple tail for dinner. Oversized redfish to 33 inches and some drag drawing snook have tightened lines for great catch and release action.

Robert and Terry Jack brought son Harry on a morning 4hr trip. Harry just graduated from high school and is heading soon to Marine Boot Camp. Harry an experienced angler had snook on his mind for some catch and release action. The first location was disappointing with not a hit; however the second location made the day. All said and done between the three anglers thirteen snook were landed and released. Things slowed a little so I mentioned trying for a red or two, so off we headed for a little red spot I know about. First cast Terry landed a seatrout large enough for all three to enjoy grilled fish for dinner. Soon after Robert and Harry hooked up with some huge reds; one at 29 inches and the second at 31 inches. These fish weighed in at over ten pounds - with ten pound test line catching them was a great way to end the trip. After a quick photo the reds were safely released. Good luck to Harry at boot camp and his time with the United States Marines.

Bait used was live hand-picked shrimp from Hart's Landing Bait located at 920 John Ringling Causeway in Sarasota Florida. Also, green backs were netted along the beach prior to the start of the trip by the captain and used for bait.
