Sebastian - Saltwater Fishing Report
We fished twice during the last week in February; first, with locals, Rick Pino and Jack Balme. The Indian River and Sebastian Inlet weren't too productive, so we moved into the scenic Sebastian River, where we caught pompano, bluefish, ladyfish, sea trout and jack crevelles.
We closed the month fishing with John Garofalo and Kathy Olson, Baltimore residents visiting central FL for a few days. We started out around the small Intracoastal islands in the Indian River, where they brought in some bluefish. Then we moved to the Sebastian River. Conditions were ideal—overcast with little wind—and the couple caught ladyfish, jacks, bluefish and a sheepshead.
On March 3 we fished with Connecticut residents, Dr. Joe Deltito and Peter Ravetto. The weather was perfect, and they enjoyed steady action, catching nice-sized jacks, ladyfish, and some blues in the Sebastian River. All the fish were released.
The Indian River sea grass has not fully restored itself. The Inlet is holding many species, and the Sebastian River is always reliable for jacks, ladyfish, sail catfish, etc.
