Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Capt. George Welcome

Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Date Fished: 10/30/2000

Water Temperature: 77

Water Clarity: 0

The wind has finally subsided down here. As Hugh's reports stated during the last week you would be at a distinct disadvantage using artificial with the winds that we have had. Scott had a trip on Monday with Tim Sirota and Mom out fishing, and 25-30 fish were caught and released to 3.5 pounds. The wind howled but using rattle traps and working in the NW area of the Stick produced a reasonably good day. Working the trolling motor in these conditions was very difficult but using the motor to control the high speed drifts paid off. The balance of the week we got some time off after spending almost a month of non-stop go. Saturday, with body refreshed we headed out onto the Stick and proceeded to work our way to the NW area again. Working rattle traps and Texas rigged worms produced 30+ fish to 5 pounds. The weather was great, the fishing was great and the sun got hot enough to warrant some SPF 30 for protection. We also went back to the Farm for a while but the bass in the front kept calling so we headed back and finished up the day in the NW corner. Sunday's trip was a 1/2 day afternoon trip and all the bass were taken in the NW area again. Using rattle traps produced all the fish, with 25+ being boated. Conditions here will increase through November and then I would think the Farm will be the area to fish. Thanks to all who are posting reports. Would also love to see some of you people that are fishing artificial baits putting up your results. Also thanks to those that come over and say hello at the ramp area. We appreciate hearing from you.
