Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Date Fished: 12/22/01
Water Temperature: 68
Water Clarity: 1 foot
Lake conditions and weather combined to make things a bit tougher for us on the 22nd and the 23rd. The bite slowed in the areas we fished but we still had good days. After all, any day on the water is a great day.
We fished both days from about 8:00 until noon. We fished both the SW area of the Farm on Saturday and the SW area of the Stick Marsh. Today we did basically the same thing however today it was far cloudier and more wind. Most fish were caught on Senkos with only one coming on a gold spoon. Senkos that were preferred were watermelon. Total fish for yesterday and today stands at 24. However, Santa delivered a nice 7-pounder to Don Willis yesterday, and a beauty of a 9.5-pound bass to me this morning.
I have a trip tomorrow so perhaps Santa will do the same for our clients. See you out there: Have a great Holiday season, and if your on the water have a fantastic fishing trip.

Christmas Eve on the Marsh was a pleasant day of lite wind and fairly warm temperatures. The weatherman's call for rain stayed well away from the area.
Chester Goble, his brother Ron, and his son Josh gave themselves an early Xmas present and came out for a day of fishing. The weather was a tad nicer than in their home state of Kentucky and they armed themselves with shiners to hopefully ensure the fishing would be also.
Throughout the day the bite was picky with a lot of shiners being killed without the float ever even moving. The bass wanted to play with their food. However, there were periods that were good, and the last hour of the day was very good so the catch ended up at 30 bass. One big fish was lost in the last ten minutes of the trip. I don't how big, but Ron, who was using a MH Loomis, had the rod bent in half as he fought the fish.
The weatherman is calling for things to get a bit chillier as the week wears on. Not much in the way of rain, but certainly cooler temperatures. See you on the water. Best fishing seems to be on the SW end of the Farm. Good luck out there.
