Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Capt. George Welcome
June 28, 2002
Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 6/28/02

Water Temperature: 80

Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

After today I can barely lift my arms and I can only say whew! If you find the line that the fish are laying in the current and toss the right bait at them you will wear yourself out. Finding the line might take some adjustments to boat position so if you get into current and its not happening move the boat a bit. Remember also that there are several areas of current, not just the pump house, spillway, and cut. For example the cut from the east ditch coming back into the Marsh is a good spot, the end of the center levee is a good spot, the SE corner of the Marsh is a good spot, the intersections of the irrigation ditches are good spots. Anywhere you find funneled current will produce fish, but you must locate the direction that you bring you bait through it for optimum catching.

Scotts party finished up their third day with a bang bringing 170 bass to the boat. This made a three day total of 417 line hauling bass and was the best fishing that they have ever had. Again, the bait of choice was the vererable Senko on a Carolina rig.

My party out for their second day hauled in over 212 bass with about 75 percent on Senkos and the other 25 percent on watermelon lizards. The rig of choice was absolutely the Carolina rig. The highlight to the group of fish was a 9.25 pound beauty caught by Chris Centafont and I will have a picture of this fish tomorrow. We had a lot of 4-5 pound bass in this group; probably as much as 40%.

See you on the water!
