Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Capt. George Welcome
July 2, 2002
Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Date Fished: 6/29/02

Water Temperature: 82

Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Running around getting the wife ready for some optional surgery didn't leave me much time to get up a report for the end of the week. However now that I have a minute here it is.

Areas of running water have been producing as you all know from previous reports. However, not all running water has been producing as we who are fishing the lake can tell you. For example the pipes located adjacent to the concrete dock have been producing outstanding catches of cat fish, but not much in the way of bass.

What has been producing is the area of the cut going into the Marsh, the spillway in the SE corner of the Farm, the point of the separation dike and the flowing current at the pump house. The only are that wasn't boat position specific was the spillway on Saturday. We watched people catching fish in all areas that were anywhere near the spillway.

I finished up the third day with Chris Centafont and Blake on my boat and Chris's friends Richard and Clay on their boat. Between the two boats on Saturday we hauled in over 200 bass up to about 6 pounds. The one in the picture above was caught on Friday.

We were chased off Saturday by a big storm that decided to settle on the Marsh/Farm and it even included a tornado that became a water spout as it lit down in the NE corner of the Stick Marsh. Gotta keep an eye on the weather and don't wait too long to decide to run.

See you on the water.
