We went out yesterday AM to set up for a trip today, but our time spent was short and sad. This beautiful impoundment is heavily weeded not only in the impoundments themselves but even the canals have heavy hydrilla growth. In addition with all the water flowing north from the Ft Drum reservation came a lot of hyacinth and this has clogged the N/S canals making it very difficult to get through them. We beat our way to the barrow pit to find that completely weeded in and that was as far as we went. They have sprayed a lot in here to get the hyacinth but in the process we noted that a lot of the cattails and good weeds had been hit also. Needless to say I cancelled todays trip to Garcia.
If you plan to give this lake a try be careful of that big motor as it doesn't take much to cook an engine in this kind of heavy weed.
