Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Capt. George Welcome
July 28, 2004
Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Fishing is all about good times with good friends, and our trip yesterday was

one with both ingredients. This particular friend has a tough time with this

fishing stuff, (according to him), but he is humorous and and inveterate

fisherman. To begin the day off well he decided it would be too much work to

bring his fish to the boat so he waved bye-bye as she swam off with his Senko.

Not to be beleaguered with such a mundane occurrence he opted to repeat this a

few more times, but I think he did this just so that he could say, "I suck at

this". Yep, you guessed it, we had Don Willis, self-proclaimed "World's Worst

Fisherman" on board and he was up to his usual antics. Muttering and cussing on

the back deck he was constantly complaining of being "front boated" but we let

that slide as we watched yet another Senko sail through the air. Just to make

him feel included we let him pose with Scott for this picture.

As you can see from the background the water was calm with no wind with a

bright sun rising. As the morning progressed I had more than my share of

non-hooked bass but Scott picked up the slack for both of us and hauled in

another one.

The just to prove it wasn't a fluke he did it again.

All in all a slow morning with only 25 bass by 11:00. We did run to the south

end of the Farm today to check the spillway area. The sprayers have been out and

the south end of the route there is strewn with loads of dead floating hyacinth.

They did some pretty extensive spraying down there and it is quite the mess. It

will probably be our next hot spot in a couple of weeks. We also went to the SW

corner and check it out. Not much action there, but the water was clean inside

the mat line. We will have to keep an eye on that area.

The bite we had was the same as I have been reporting for 3 months now.

Senkos and patches of hydrilla equal some good fishing.

See you on the water. Say hi if you get the chance.
