Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Date Fished: 5/28/2000

Water Temperature: 90

Water Clarity: 0

Dog-gone it! Just when I find a "SECRET" honey hole (LOL) along comes Jim Porter or Hugh Crumpler and they find it. Heck, I was hiding those grass patches out in the middle of nowhere. I even camouflaged them by putting water all around them. Want big fish? Grass areas can be found scattered about the Farm and they are holding the big guys. Friday we took back-to-back 9-pound bass sitting on opposite ends of a floating log. I felt as if I was out off shore working grass lines for Dolphin. Find the grass and find the fish and the bait choice is easy: Top water! However, if you hit the trails and adjacent levees you will be into some real hot catching.

One week of multi-hundred catch days ended Friday at about 11:00 AM when the man from St John's came and shut the spillway. (BOO HISS) That catching was unbelievable with fish hitting anything that you threw at them. We left the spillway and hit the grass patches and quit around 1:00. Saturday with clients we hit the center N/S trail and the fish were stacked anywhere there was hydrilla. Top water and Carolina rigs caught fish.

I have one more day for the month in there and need only 71 fish to crack 2500 for the month. It has been simply incredible in there. It has also been very hot the latter part of the month with temps in the 90's. It is a good idea to do a 1/2-day and get out of the heat before you cook. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and top water baits for the perfect day.

Of course, as I have previously told you, don't ruin a perfect day by running the big motor in the wrong place. If you're not sure than idle. There have been several boats with new holes in the hulls as well as several lower units that have succumbed to the low waters. There have also been several damaged trailers that have been dropped off the end of the ramps. Be careful in there. Might be a good time to hire a guide if you're not sure of the area but want to sample some of this fantastic fishing.
