Couple Days Off for Zane's Birthday and Back Out

Capt. Nick Cremasco
March 21, 2019
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Left the dock late after checking the beach out. Looked beautiful so I called Mike and Whitney and we met at the boat at 8am. We spent a good amount of time looking for bait and finally filled the well with blue runners and headed offshore. We caught runners in 50ft and the water was 71.8 degrees. As I pushed offshore the water plummeted in temperature. Down to 66.8 degrees in 180ft. I started calling around down south to feel the situation out but no one was fishing we pressed up and the temp gradually rose till we hit an edge in 255ft of water where the temp jumped to 75.6 degrees. I stopped to check our drift thinking it would be hard North current. We were drifting due west. So I ran a mile offshore the edge and set out. It was around 10am and we had two baits out on the bow Tigress Outriggers & Gear kite and got first bait out on the stern kite and got bit while I was putting the bait out. I put another bait on the back kite and we hooked and landed a double. Set back out and caught a single. Then we missed two singles and caught a couple Mahi mahi.

Next drift same zone. We were drifting west at .7 knots. Second drift 3 more Mahi mahi, and a couple more sailfish out of 4 more bites.

1 more drift and catch 1 of a double header.

Ended the day 6-11 on Sailfish and 5-5 on mahis.

No other bites.
