Nothing Says the Holidays like Fishing

Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

December 26, 2014

Today we fished with Seth and his two sons and although the fishing was excellent we had a fun time and kept the rods bent. We caught Cobia, Jacks, Porgies, Triggerfish and a variety snapper. Give us a call to book your fishing charter in the river or on the ocean.

Jensen Beach fishing charters are only 30 miles North of Palm Beach and an hour and a 1/2 from Orlando.

Today we charter fished with Don and his son Tyler. We started the day trolling for dolphin and sailfish and caught a couple bonito. Tyler was not feeling well so we decided to cut the day short and we hit the bottom for a couple of drops before running home for the day.

We caught a couple of Amberjack and broke off a couple grouper in the bottom before returning from our fishing trip.

Today our full day fishing charter was with Jeff and Meredith. It was a goal of Jeff to catch his first Mahi-Mahi. Fishing has been uncharacteristically slow for mahi and sails this time of year especially given the weather we have had to date. But we took the pressure off with a small dolphin for Jeff before we got the entire spread in the water. We had a couple more small mahi bites and kept one more that Meredith caught on our trolling charter. Things were pretty slow as far as trolling for dolphin and sailfish was concerned so I decided to switch gears to bend the rod on the bottom. We caught Grouper, Jacks, Snapper, Triggers, Sea Bass and more. Our charter kept enough to eat and we let the rest go. I even got in on some of the tasty Grouper nuggets for dinner as well.

So blessed to have such a great repeat clientele. We fished with Leon, Chris, Marco, Fred, Mike and Mike's son Peyton today. The goal was meat in the box for these guys.

The wind clocked SE today and breezed up a little and the fleet saw some of its best fishing for sailfish in 2 weeks. However the mahi fishing remained slow so we opted to stick with the bottom for our entire 3/4 day fishing charter.

We caught 4 Cobia to 35lbs, a couple of Amberjack to 40lbs, a 15lb Almaco Jack and a 12lb Gag Grouper. Peyton stayed on the chicken rig most of the day and wore out the porgies, sea bass, triggers, mutton, vermillion, and genuine red snapper. Awesome day with awesome people!

Today we fished with great repeat clients Mark, Kurt, Bill and MIke for a full day fishing charter with which I cut short because of horrible fishing. The trolling bite was horrible and there was a 100 boats fishing so I opted to pound the bottom in hopes to find some elusive Grouper and some more of the cobia we have been catching lately with their earlier than normal arrival.

But it didn't work. We covered 75 miles of water and hit over 30 rocks and wrecks to only manage a couple of Amberjack to 35lbs and some Almaco jacks. OH WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES!

Ripping North current yesterday and the wind was forecast for North 15 knots over night becoming 10-15 with a 3-5ft sea state. Woke up and it was just under 4ft at 6 seconds in 50ft of water out of the North current so I assumed it would be much rougher in the current. We opted to reschedule the family trip for a more enjoyable day. Glad we did because its been raining for the last 3 hours as well.
