Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

August 22:

Well we went back into the water today after a good week of work on the DayMaker. We are ready from some summertime fishing charters. We will start with a family trip fishing the Bonito Blast to benefit the Wounded Warriors.

Today we fished the Bonito Blast with the family. We had two goals today and they were to put some time on the boat after being in the yard for a week and to have a little family fun fishing a tournament to benefit a great cause. Zane caught plenty of bonito and weighed one in the JR division. As well the boat ran great and were looking forward to our swordfish charter tomorrow night.

August 25:

We had a great night of fishing for swordfish with Seth and his crew from Ft Pierce. We moved our trip up one night because of the weather forecast and that decision payed off in a big way. We had an excellent night of fishing for swordfish. We released two fish and kept a fish around 160lbs. We also had two other bites from fish that we identified and we saw another fish in our underwater lights that we did not get a bite from. We saw 6 swordfish, had 5 bites and caught 3 and excellent night of fishing for Swordfish Stuart Fl.

We had to reschedule our two day fishing charter with Vince because of Hurricane Crystobal. Seas from 6-9ft plagued our area for a couple of days making it impossible to run our fishing charter. It looks like we will be able to get out tomorrow for a local fishing charter.

Today we fished a 1/2 day with Mike who is a local and his brother Dave and sister Lisa from out of town. The goal was to bend the rod and hopefully catch something for dinner. I rigged some ballyhoo and planned to troll because of the water quality from the left over swell from Hurricane Crystoball. We caught about 18 baits and started trolling. We ended up only having 1 bite while we were trolling. Our bite was from a sailfish and I missed him a couple of times before he swam away full.

I decided to switch to bottom fishing hoping to bend the rod on some Jacks, Grouper or whatever. We ended up catching about 25 Sea Bass keeping 10 nice sized ones for dinner and also a 15lb Gag Grouper for Mike.

Today we fished with Jessi and his guests for a 3/4 day fishing charter. We started the morning high speed trolling for wahoo. We had a feeble bite but did not connect. After seeing some mahi jumping around we decided to switch gears and troll for mahi. It was a good decision, we ended up catching 16 mahi on our 3/4 day fishing charter. After the mahi stopped biting we ran inshore and tried to catch some bottom fish. Fishing was a little slow and we only managed to keep a handful of Sea Bass out of the 20 we caught.

We took Devin and his buddies on a swordfish charter for Devin's birthday. His wife had purchased a Charter fishing Gift Certificate. We enjoyed beautiful weather but unfortunately the fishing was a little tough. We never had a bite high speed trolling for wahoo. We switched gears to fishing for swordfish and started fishing for them at 9pm. We had our first bite at 3:30am and it was Devin's fish. The fish pulled hard and dumped about 450yds of line before leveling off down deep. We fought the fish briefly from there before it went away. UGH!

We had another bite at 4:10 and we were able to bring a swordfish boat side for release back to the deep. A first swordfish catch for the angler. Any night you catch one is a good night, hopefully you get to keep it. Maybe Wednesday our swordfish charter will have a little more luck.

FYI: Snook season is open and they are biting. Call us to book your river fishing charter, near coastal charter or inlet fishing charter. Come and catch the king of the river.
