May in Stuart Ends with a Blow

Capt. Nick Cremasco
June 4, 2013
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

May 24:

Today we ran a combo trip leaving at noon on the 23rd to go do some bottom fishing for Grouper, Amberjack, Almaco Jack and Snapper. We ended up having decent action for a couple hours on the bottom. We caught 4 Amberjack from 25-40lbs, a couple of 10-15lb Almaco Jacks, 3 Genuine Red Snapper to 28lbs, 3 Gag Grouper from 14-22lbs, and a keeper Red Grouper. We left ourselves a couple hours to troll off of Jupiter and Palm Beach. We unfortunately had no dolphin or wahoo bites and headed offshore to swordfish.

The surrounding lightning storms that were 50-70 miles away played a little havoc on our swordfish trip. We did have 1 bite from a 60-80lb fish but unfortunately pulled him off. We had another bite shortly after but it may have been the same fish. We finally got chased in a 4a.m. and returned to the dock around 5:15.

All in all a fun trip and a success.

Today we fished the Treasure Coast Builders Association Tournament. We enjoyed great bottom fishing today for our guest Tony, Ron and Bob. We caught 6 keeper Gag Grouper keeping a limit of 3 fish that weighed between 16.5 and 18.5lbs. The biggest fish which Tony caught was good enough for 2nd Place. First place was 3/4s of a pound bigger.

Our 2 16lb fish were beat out by a couple of other 18lb fish. We also caught Amberjack and Almaco Jack to 30lbs and 3 Genuine Reds to 35"

Today we were blown out on our Stuart Fl fishing charter. The upcoming week looks horrible for us too. Well keep our fingers crossed so we can get out and catch some fish on a bottom fishing charters Stuart Fl

May 27:

Wind continues to blow its butt off forcing cancellation of deep sea fishing charters Stuart Fl

May 28:

Today we were able to get out the inlet with the 20 knot East wind. We made 12 knots getting offshore and started fishing in 90ft. We caught a couple bonito and a barracuda trolling for about 45 minutes. We switched gears to try a little bottom fishing. Conditions for our bottom fishing charter were difficult with 4-6ft of sea and 2.5 knots of North current. We had about 10 bites on the first spot but were not able to connect. We missed some bites and broke a couple fish off in the bottom. We called it early because of conditions and the guys decided to go fishing in the river for the next couple of days.

May 29:

Our guys went in the river today and we cancelled our fishing charter. East 20-25 knots winds 5-7ft and raining.

PRETTY...

May 30:

Today was day 3 for our guys from Iowa. They are fishing in the river again and word was despite the wind and rain having some great snook fishing.

Looks like we may be able to get out on Sunday.

Fingers crossed

May 31:

Weather continues to plagued us. Hoping for a break by the weekend.

June 1:

The worst two months we have had and off to a bad start for June. We have fished 31 out of 59 days booked in April and May. Not good for us or our customers. Hope June and July are better.

June 2:

Today we fished with Justin and his five buddies for a bachelor party fishing charter. We enjoyed great weather and decent fishing. We started the day catching some bait and boated a 45lb Cobia while bait fishing. We hooked another cobia around 30lbs but the fish made some quick moves and got under the boat and broke us off. We ran offshore and caught a limit of 6 Amberjack up to 35lbs. We also caught a couple Gag Grouper and had as many as 10 more good bites on the bottom. We also released 5 Genuine Red Snapper to 25lbs.

Stuart Fl fishing charters are heating up and weather is shaping up. Give us a call.

Today we fished with Kelly Landers his son and guest. We had a awesome weather and decent fishing. We caught a limit of 20 Sea Bass, 3 Amberjack to 30lbs and a 15lb Red Grouper. The highlight of our Stuart Fl fishing charter was the tag team catch by Kelly and his son. They battled a 56# wahoo for close to 45 minutes on 20lb tackle before we boated the fish. It was caught on a trolled ballyhoo with a pink and white chugger head. A true DayMaker!
