Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

One of the best things about living in the Stuart area is on the days we cannot go offshore, we have two rivers to fish in. The variety of species we have caught keeps you guessing what is on the end of your line. Near the inlet the other day we had couple of pompano, two bonefish, ladyfish, jacks, bluefish, and a big black margate. We were using shrimp tipped redfish jigs in various colors. The bonefish were the first ever for the clients aboard. We had a hooked ladyfish jump right into the boat before we released it. At the Stuart Causeway we had several mangrove snapper and jacks. On another trip, we fished the north fork of the St. Lucie River and had pompano, jacks, croaker, and a big black drum. All of these fish were caught on shrimp tipped jigs. The Roosevelt Bridge has a good night time snook bite. Flair hawks and D.O.A. terroreyes are working well. Offshore has been a bit slow as far as sailfish go ,but yesterday the dolphin were all over in around one hundred and twenty feet. A lot of boats had caught them in double digits. Most were caught on ballyhoo because live bait is still hard to find. There is also a decent king bite in around eighty feet. The Spanish mackerel have thinned out some at Peck’s Lake so be sure to bring some chum along to bring them to your boat otherwise you will not catch many. There are plenty of fish around, so get out and get some. More later.
