Snookin in Stuart

Capt. Bob Bushholz
June 5, 2019
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

The snook bite is great and will remain strong all summer long. Large females are gathered for their annual spawn. Smaller males can be found along the beaches. We live bait using pilchards or greenies on circle hooks. Along with snook, expect to encounter large jack crevalles, tarpon, goliath grouper and even a few cubera snapper. Snook season reopens Sept. 1st which is a great month to catch slot sized fish to take home. On our live-baiting trips, 3 rod max to avoid tangles.

Tripletail we catch all year long. Currently we are at #51 for the year and hoping to reach our 177 fish total last year. Most fish average 6-12 lbs but we do catch tt's well over 20lbs. They put up a great fight and as far as table fare, one of the best.

Redfish and black drum at the area bridges up to 20 lbs mainly caught on shrimp. Flounder bite is on the rise here on the Treasure Coast.
