St. Lucie Tripletail Bite is On

Capt. Bob Bushholz
March 10, 2014
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore fishing in the Stuart area has really heated up the past week . Although the pompano bite remains on the slow side, big sheepshead to four pounds have been common in the inlet area with a few snook and bonefish mixed in. Black drum to nine lbs have been found at all the bridges and a few docks and channel markers.

The big story this week has been the tripletail bite. We have caught them in the St. Lucie River at the 10 cent bridge, docks along Sewell's Point and up and down the Indian River fishing crab trap floats and channel markers. Our first tripletail of the year on Monday am weighed in at 5lbs. Since then we have caught 6, 14, 10 and 20.5 pounders. A great start for the season which normally runs till about October.
