Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report
The wind over the past two weeks has been keeping us from going offshore on most days, but when we were able to go, we caught some fish. There were a few dolphin caught but not the big ones we had previously. Bonita are all over and the king bite is starting to heat up. There were greenies near the House of Refuge in thirty feet of water. Schools of big jacks are moving through the bait pods and feeding on them. Catch a livie, hook it up and cast it out. Hang on to your rod for a great fight on light tackle. We had a couple of nice amberjack on the wrecks which were also caught on live bait. Look for kings in fifty to seventy feet and also on the sand pile. We are having a good snook bite at the Roosevelt Bridge on live bait. We were hooking greenies on a 3/8 ounce jig head and flipping them in buy the concrete abutments. Some were small, but we had a couple of keepers. At the Ten Cent Bridge we had a nice variety of fish on shrimp tipped redfish jigs. We had croaker, trout and even a good size flounder while drifting underneath. Last week there was a couple of tarpon caught in the bait pods off the beach. We will see more of them as summer approaches. This weekend is shaping up to be a good time to go out as the seas are subsiding. More later.
