Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

Capt. Kevin Drennan
November 13, 2009
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

It has been two weeks since the wind started and it seems like it is never going to let up. It has made it almost impossible to fish offshore and very difficult to fish the rivers. We had a couple of decent days fishing near the inlet and around the bridges. Blue fish and Spanish mackerel can be caught near the inlet on the incoming tide. Glass minnow lures and clark spoons do well. By the bridges, we caught a mixed bag of jacks, lady fish and an occasional silver trout. Once in a while we would pick up a Spanish mackerel also. Yesterday and today, some of the larger boats have been catching dolphin in good numbers. A lot of gaffers and a few fish over thirty pounds have been taken. The sailfish bite is getting better and should improve with each new cold front that pushes through. We are looking forward to getting back out on the ocean early next week and bringing back some mahi. More later.
