Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report
The sailfish bite out of Stuart has really taken off the past two weeks. Hundreds of fish have been released in three separate local tournaments. The fish have been moving down from the north on recent cold fronts. Multiple hookups are common. Trolled ballyhoo has been doing the trick because live bait has been hard to find. Dolphin are also being caught in good numbers anywhere from seventy five feet out. Some blackfin tuna are still being taken. Look for kings in sixty to one hundred feet around structure. The bottom bite has been good in sixty to eighty feet south of the inlet off of the Loran Tower. The good news is the Spanish mackerel bite at Peck's Lake has really taken off. We limited out in thirty minutes the other day throwing glass minnow lures. Most of the fish were three to four pounds. Around the inlet, we caught a mixed bag of small snapper, jacks, margate, ladyfish, bluefish, and pompano. We also had several pompano in the Indian River near the Stuart Causeway on shrimp tipped jigs. Look for this action to take off as the water temperatures drop. Enjoy the holidays and remember that snook are now catch and release only. More later.
