Top Tagging Captain Atlantic Sailfish

Capt. Nick Cremasco
December 31, 2020
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Pretty excited to be recognized by The Billfish Foundation for the top charter boat tagging captain in the Atlantic for Sailfish in 2020! Thank you to all of our customers who support DayMaker charters and got to be a part of this exciting accomplishment. I'm hoping to expand upon this in 2021.

Fishing continues to be good for mahi-mahi and sailfish. The blackfin tuna fishing has faded close to home but is pretty good 30 miles north and I expect it will get really good again locally after the next couple of cold fronts pass through. As expected some bigger grouper showed up along with more juvenile fish which will be good for the spawn during the closed season. We had a few more days of seeing 6-10 sailfish and I'm looking forward to more of those double digit days in January.

We've seen pretty consistent mahi-mahi fishing whether trolling or kite fishing the last 10 days we fished. Double digit catches have been common with some of the bigger fish in the mid to high teens for weight. As with increased numbers of sailfish and tuna the mahi numbers should stay strong with each passing cold front and through January.

Grouper season closes January 1st but the snapper fishing for lanes vermilions and muttons will remain strong. Cobia Should be here in force in January and February and Amberjacks and almacos jacks should be plentiful on the reefs to test your strength.
