Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

August was a good month for fishing in the Tampa bay! Redfish, Snook, Snapper, Tarpon, and mackerel were all targets on recent charters.
The Redfish have really moved into Tampa bay over the last two weeks, and they fish are big! The Redfish are schooled up in a few areas of the bay. Cut bait has worked best. Fish are ranging from 26-34"

Snook fishing as been decent, but not outstanding. The water temps are still warm and the fish have finished spawning and are retreating to flats and back waters. Live sardines are still producing fish, and the bite should get better once the water coolers off a bit.

Snapper fishing has still been outstanding and these fish have been really nice for fishing in the bay. Average size has been 11-16". Small sardines free lined or fished with on a knocker rig are producing best.

Tarpon are still around and these fish are willing to bite once located. Tarpon fishing will remain good until October for anglers looking to hook into the Silver King!

Tight lines,
