Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The recent hard northeast winds that have swirled through the Tampa Bay area have brought about some changes. Yes, it has cooled the temperature down a bit, which could be considered a good thing, but it has also caused the fish to be on the move.

The wind has affected the redfish more than any other fish. We are still catching redfish every trip, we have just had to work much harder to catch them. It was only roughly two weeks ago that we couldn't get away from catching big redfish. Because the wind and the moon have been just right, most of the redfish have pushed out into the Gulf.

The water temperature has dropped, and the snook bite has turned on. Lately, great numbers of snook have showed up and started to feed. We are catching many snook in some of the areas that we were catching redfish. It's just the beginning of a great fall snook season.

The tarpon bite hasn't slowed down a bit! Many great fish are still in the area. Over the past week, we have had some great tarpon fishing and caught some really nice fish. Most of the fish we've caught ranged from 80 pounds to 120 pounds with a few smaller fish mixed in. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
