Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Winter time in Florida means it is sheepshead time. The striped convicts are in full blown spawning mode. This makes for some great fishing around the many passes and reefs both in Tampa Bay and on the Gulf of Mexico.

Shrimp, sand fleas, fiddler crabs and even barnacles work great for bait. While sheepshead maybe the main target you may catch mangrove snapper, scamp, porgy's, flounder and white grunts just to name a few.

All of which make tasty fillets in the fryer.

Speckled Trout are on the deeper grass flats along with Bluefish and maybe even Pompano. Shrimp under a popping cork work great for this kind of fishing. If you are into throwing lures use those that imitate shrimp.

Thank You & Good Fishing!
