Fishing is on Fire!

Capt. Dustin Hilliard
June 3, 2015
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tampa bay fishing is on fire! Redfish bite has been best on high tides on points, bars and mangroves. Trout has been consistent on live bait in 4 to 10 ft. Snook bite has been best when you have moving water using big pinfish, greenies and Lady fish. My main focus this time of year is Tarpon (Silver King) and they are everywhere in the Tampa bay area. You can find them under bridges, tracking north and south on the beaches, in passes and the grass flats using white bait, crab and mullet. I also like using a 12 wt. fly rod in shallow water sight fishing for tarpon. It's crazy to think a 150lb to 200lb fish loves to eat bugs (fly) but it's true!

It's very exciting to watch the fish come up and eat a bug after you present the fly perfectly in front of him and in crystal clear water it's sometimes the only way to get them to bite. Come fish Tampa bay Florida and see what it's like to pull on a fish that will test your strength, endurance and that has been around since prehistoric times.

Tight Lines,
