Fishing Tampa Bay A Little Differently!

Capt. TJ Stewart
December 10, 2008
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Some days are warm and some days are cold. Through them all we have been able to fish. If it's been in the back waters or just a little offshore the fishing over all has been outstanding. It's one of those things you have to see it to believe it. Even then its hard to believe but it is all about the water temp. For the back water if it's over 62 it game on any where below that it can be a little slower.

Most of all the fish that we have been doing has been back in the bay still but we did get one day where we got to mix it up a little. We managed to get offshore or near shore about 5 miles and managed to get on a great bite. As you can see it was a little rough but we managed to catch some great fish. The one in the picture was the best of the day before it almost drug the young man out of the boat. We a great fish this was just one of many! We had a great grouper and snapper. Ever time the bait hit the bottom you better be ready to reel because it was fish on!

Then we have the bay fishing if you get the right day it can be unbelievable if the waters like I said if the water tamp is over 63 the bite is on. I only did manage to fish one trip in the back water last week but we did really well. Redfish and snook the bite is still on a lot of the fishing we have been doing has been really shallow this is where the fish move this time of the year. This is really warm for this time of the year the thing is you gat a few days where the temp gets above 75 and the water temp goes up quick. Most of the water is only 1-3 ft that we are fishing in so the tamp will go up and down quick. if the temp stays up this type of fishing will be done.

Keep in mind it time to book those trips for this spring so that you can book that day that you really want this year!
