Inshore Winter Time Fishing -Miguel's Pass!

Capt. Sean Hagen
November 30, 2010
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The mouth of Miguel's Bay is holding good numbers

of trout and ladyfish. Try working a popping cork

with a live shrimp. For best results fish a good

incoming tide. The water can really rip through

little Miguel pass and this attracts a variety of

fish.

Look for pompano skipping on top of the water. The

pompano should be showing up in Miguel anytime now

and can't resist a Docs Jig. Sheepsheads will soon be

in their spawn. Once we see a little colder weather

you can bet the Sheepies will be showing up in the

pass as well.

Else where in the Bay, there are still a few snook

hanging around the bridges, but expect the snook to

head up river at the first sign of a real cold front.

The redfish are abundant, but slot size redfish are

becoming more difficult to catch. The rivers are

slam full of rat reds who beat their bigger, slower

brothers to the bait. As for their bait of choice,

try anything and everything. It does seem to make a

diffrence, the redfish are eating it all!

This months bonus fish is bluefish. We have been

catching big bluefish on the flats west of the

Skyway Bridge. White baits under a popping cork have

been been landing some bruiser bluefish over 24 inches.
