Lots of Redfish

Capt. Troy Mainzer
September 1, 2013
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Redfish have been schooled up everywhere around Tampa Bay. Some days it takes longer than others to find them but once you are on the fish its very common to have consistent double hookups. Most of these fish are upperslot and overslot with many fish pushing 35". Thats a huge redfish, especially on light tackle! Cut bait has been best but they are also eating greenbacks as well. The bait is getting bigger but lots of it is still very small so using a castnet with small mesh is a must or you will be cleaning it for a while! Trout and mackerel are also biting well in the bay.
