Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The cold front blew through Friday and greeted us Sunday morning with chilly 52 degree air temps and a stiff North breeze 15-20 mph. The baits still thick on local bridges but 3' waves made it challenging to say the least. Good news local grass flats 3-4' in protected areas are still thick with white bait. With no trip today I decided to scout winter locations.
The water clarity was more like coffee after Friday's rains and 3 days of winds. Areas loaded with trout pre front were tuff to find. Trout are not fond of dirty water. I ran to some areas with better tidal flow and clearer water. Right on cue the trout cooperated.
I then turned my attention to snook. Surprisingly they were right where they were last week and eager to chase live white baits. I quickly boated 6 lead besides 22-25"s.
This week's forecast has temperatures returning and staying in the 80's through Christmas. Look for snook, redfish and trout action to be quick with big full moon tides later in the week.
