Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon in minutes!

Well the fishing this week was the early morning or afternoon fishing. Mid day was tough the tides were not very good just about all week. But we had some really good mornings This week we started out with some Red fish the first day we found some fish that were in a little different area then where we had been catching most of our Red fish, an area that we usually catch fish this time of the year. The first day of the week we started with catching about 25 Red fish with a few 30 inch fish this was a great start for the week. We had a few more good days. The Red fish of this week was a 30 inch Red fish.

The Snook this week were definitely spawning they were a little tougher to catch. .Most of the fish that we caught were really close to the passes or off the beach. .We still had a few days where we caught over 20 Snook. The Snook of the week was a 28 inch fish.

Trout fishing this week was a little slower then it has been. We had one morning where we did a little fishing for the Trout early in the morning and we caught over 20 Trout. The late morning fishing for Trout was a lot slower.

We had 2 early morning days that we had real good luck. The first morning we pulled up to the spot where we were going to fish and anchored put baits in the water an it took like a whole two minutes before we hooked a Tarpon. We fought the fish for about 40 minutes an boated it. The young lady that caught this fish did an awesome job! In the mean time a few more boats showed up an the fish moved out in to the bay so we decided to move. We found a few more fish and hooked one other Tarpon. The other morning we fished we hooked 5 Tarpon had one on for about 10 minutes before the Silver King jumped off that is why it is important to bow to the King. With the full moon most of the fishing is better early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The Tarpon of the week was a 100 lb Tarpon.
