Tampa Bay Fishing Report

Capt. TJ Stewart
July 18, 2004
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Rough but successful !

Well the wind came back well not really but we did have a few day where we just about got blown out. But we did manage to get some good fishing in. The Snook bite was real good one day then slow the next but I guess that’s fishing. We did have a few days where we caught over 20 Snook We had some real nice fish this week. The Snook of the week was a 34 inch Snook.

With the wind we did not get a chance to do any Tarpon fishing this week. There are still a lot of Tarpon around but the wind makes the fishing a lot harder. It’s not that you can’t but when its real rough the fish don’t show very good. Then when you do hook a fish it much harder to fight and hold on just makes it a little more challenging.

However the Red fish bite was on. It was crazy we had lots of real nice fish. We managed to have a few great days where we caught over 25 Red fish with most of the fish over 27 inches. We had a lot of fish between 30-34 inches. With the light tackle these fish put up one heck of a fight. The Red fish of the week was a 35 inch Red fish, this was a bull Red.
