Tampa Bay Fishing Report

Capt. TJ Stewart
November 15, 2004
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Snook on!

Well, well, well if its Snook you want to catch bring it on! The Snook fishing has been crazy. Just about every day that we have fished we have caught over 30 Snook each trip if not more. To say no more the Snook fishing has been in a frenzy. . The Snook of the week was a 30 inch fish with another 28 inch Snook to the side. A pair of very nice fish.

Then we have the Trout. Well we have not been doing a whole lot of fishing for Trout but we did have one day last week where we got in to a few Trout. We caught about 40 Trout in about 1 hr. It was crazy we caught a lot of fish in a short amount of time. The biggest reason that we have not been doing much Trout fishing is because the Trout are out of season, but they are still fun to catch.

The Red fish bite is still a little slow but it has it days too. We had a few days where we caught over 12 Red fish. But just about every day if you are looking to bring a Red fish home for dinner we have caught a few. I know with the lower tides the Red fish have been more concentrated. With the higher tides the fish push up on the flats and scatter out.

Then last but not least we have the Tarpon. Yes that right I said Tarpon. We have not been doing a whole lot of Tarpon fishing lately but we did have one morning last week we got to do a little Tarpon fishing. Well we anchored up and we were only there for about 10 minutes. But we did have one hook up and managed to boat the fish. It was a 50 lb Silver King that was a great fight. If the weather will stay about the same and not get too cold too quick we might have a chance to catch a few more.

I did have one other neat experience last week when I got to fish in the Chuck LaMars Mercury Grand Slam Celebrity Fishing Tournament with Wade Boggs .He is an awesome gentleman and fisherman .and it was a lot of fun. Even he said he had never seen the Snook bite as good as it was. To see more visit www.castawaycharterinc.com.
