Tampa Bay Fishing Report

Capt. TJ Stewart
July 10, 2006
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

What its all about!

Lets just see how do we start this report well the fishing is awesome! But it’s just a little hot but with this you just have to start a little earlier in the morning or do one of the later afternoon trips. The only thing about doing one of the afternoon trips is that we have the weather to worry about. Usually this time of year we get showers in the afternoons. To say no more the fishing has been good.

If it’s that great Snook you are looking for we might be able to do that for you for sure. The Snook fishing this time of year is usually really good you can go out there and find a good school of fish and get them to bite and you can catch good numbers of fish. But with these fish in a frenzy you always have that chance with the great big one to come along! We have managed to catch some great fish over the past week one of the biggest being a fish that was pushing 37 inches. Over all the numbers of fish we are catching is really good for this time of year.

Then we have the great Red fish these fish have been getting a little easier to catch. Well I say that but we are still having to work for them a little it all depends on the tides. On the higher water we have been catching these fish in the trees then when that tide falls out a little these fish will fall off the flats. The biggest thing is when the tide is between high and low what I call a mid tide. This is a tough tide to fish you just have to work a little harder for the fish. The most luck that we have had has been on the higher tides. This is because the fish are not getting spooked as bad because they feel safe in the trees.

Let’s see we have the Tarpon if they are small or big they are just way too much fun! To say no more the Tarpon fishing has been very good we have had a lot of luck with some smaller fish up in the river most of these fish have been 20-40 lbs on the light tackle this is like catching a 150 lb fish on the heavier rods. But if it’s the big fish you want we have had luck with them as well. These fish we are catching early morning or there has been some fish off the beaches but its been a little rough to get out there the past few days. Most of the bigger fish we have been catching have been up in the bay around structure.Come visit www.castawaychartersinc.com for pictures.

TJ Stewart has the knowledge and intuition to find and hook the big ones – the battle will be up to you. Imagine the thrill and the power felt when a two hundred pound tarpon breaches the surface of the sky blue waters of Tampa Bay attempting to cast away the hook from his mouth. The
