Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

How do I hold it!

Well here we go sorry it took me so long to get this report up. It is not because I have not been fishing and catching the big one’s! Well I can’t say I caught a big one but some of the folks that have been fishing with me have had a lot of luck. This is always a good thing. Well the weather has not changed it still doesn’t know if it wants to get cold or just stay warm. But meanwhile the fishing has stayed steady. Every day on the water here lately has been a change.A lot of this has to do with the water temp the fish are just not so sure what they want to do.

I will start this report with something a little different well we have been catching a handful of them and that is the great Flounder. This is a hard fish to target but a fun one to catch and even a better one to eat. These fish are hard to target because you find them in so many different places. If you were to try to catch them I can give you a little advice fish on a sandy bottom. A lot of the fish that we catch are on the edges of grass flats or off edges of rock were it goes to sand. I will have to show you pictures next week I had a young man catch a very nice Flounder and he even had more fun holding it.

Then we have the Sheepshead. These fish are still bitting good. With the shrimp Sheepshead and Red fish are what we have the most luck with this time of the year. We fished in a few different areas last week for the Sheepshead this was because they did a lot of moving around with the water temp. but we did quite well.We had some fish that were pushing 5 lbs which on the light tackle are a lot of fun.

Then it comes down to the Red fish. These fish have been doing a lot of moving as well but you just have to do a little looking around to get them in the bite that you want. I can say the Red fish lately have been eating the shrimp like it is going out of style. A lot of the areas that we have been catching them have been around docks and in some of the pot holes in the bays. We have had some great bites going sometimes it’s almost like you can’t even close your bail quick enough and the fish is on and then the fight begins. As you can see we have had some great Red fish.
