Tampa Bay - Saltwater

Capt. Matt Ercoli
January 25, 2007
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello from Anna Maria everyone. I hope all my fishing buddies had a good holiday. I would also like to thank everyone for a successful 2006-fishing season. In all it was a very good year of fishing for me and my charters. I really appreciate all the return business and referrals that everyone has sent me. I really feel lucky to have been part of so many special days on the water and feel blessed that I get the opportunity to make my living on the beautiful waters of Tampa bay.

Well so far 2007 has come in with a bang, warm water temps have made for some great snook and redfishing. I think we are going to have a good season this year, snook are strong in numbers, trout are on the come back, and the redfishing seems to be getting more consistent over the last couple years. I think the redfish stocking program has got to be kicking in. Last year was a very consistent tarpon season with lots and lots of fish. I had a few days on the water with schools of tarpon that had to number a thousand fish all to myself, truly unforgettable.

I am planning my spring and summer calendar, days are filling fast as far out as July for tarpon so I wanted to give everyone the heads up. If you are making plans let me know soon so that the day or days you would like are available. Again I would like to thank everyone and I truly can say I enjoyed everyday spent on the water last year. The days we killed them as well as the ones that tested our skills to make an enjoyable experience.
