Snook Extravaganza in Tampa Bay

Capt. John Rivers
April 6, 2017
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Snook extravaganza in Tampa Bay
Spring fishing has been outstanding the past two to three weeks. March was a great month for snook and redfish and April has started out just as spectacular. It looks like the second week of April is going to be perfect and the tides are going to be perfect as well. We've had some 40-60 snook fish days, which means we're catching instead of fishing. Red fishing has also been great on the incoming tides. I use both live and artificials on my trips, you just let me know what you would like to use and we'll tie it on.
Let's change directions towards the beaches: Tarpon have started to show up early and snook are also starting to make their way up on the beaches. Live and cut bait work great, but I like tossing artificials a little more. With snook on the beach, try a Spro 1 oz white jig and hang on. Most of these snook are over the slot fish, but that's ok; sometimes it's not about what we can bring home, it's about just having fun watching your rod bend and hearing your drag scream.
