Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report
Variety is the spice of life and that is certainly case here at Tampa Fishing Charters. We have an abundance of different species to target depending on the weather and tide. I have been spending a lot of time targeting snook before it gets to chilly. They are staging near their winter spots and have been there in good numbers. In these same spots I have been seeing lots of really nice trout as well.
The open flats have cooled down a lot and the resident fish have changed. I am now seeing a lot of big Spanish mackerel as well as bluefish on the deeper flats. Find the mackerel and you can be sure there are some cobia nearby. It is a smart move to have a heavier rod with a bigger bait if he shows up. There have also been some very nice jacks to play with as well.
Sheepshead are starting to show up in bigger size and numbers but I believe we are still a few weeks out from the mass of bait thieves to arrive. Now is the very best time of year to target big snook on fly. I still have some openings and a fall special running until December 15th. You can give me a call at 305-340-9863 or visit our Tampa fishing website at www.tampaflatsfishingcharter.com
See you out there, Capt. Brandon Henley
