Spring is Here!

Capt. Dustin Hilliard

Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spring fishing is here and keeps getting better every week. Snook continue to push out of the rivers, creeks and back country winter areas as they get ready to move on to the beaches for their summer spawn. Their appetite has still been a little slow, but pitching green backs on a 2 or 3 owner circle hook can yield a nice catch!

The big trout continue to move in to our areas with trout in the mid 20's being caught on a regular basis - with pilchards being my go to. Working a 1/4 ounce jig head on the bottom can be just as effective some days.

The redfish bite on high tides has been consistent. Shrimp, greenies and top-water plugs have been getting their attention. Look for fishing to get better with every week and soon the tarpon will be here!
