St. Pete Beach Fishing Charter Spring Fishing Report

Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spring is here in St. Pete Beach and that means fishing is heating up! The cold fronts have stopped coming through for the most part and we have set record high air temps in February. Those warm air temps have let our water temps creep back up and we are seeing water temps in the mid 70's, which is one of the most active fishing temps we have here in the Tampa Bay area. These warm water temps have brought lots of bait back into the area and has brought a lot of snook out of their winter hiding spots. During our fishing charters we are catching snook, redfish, trout, snapper and more with the snook fishing taking center stage, as they are one of the best sport fish in the St. Pete Beach and the Tampa Bay area.

One of the other species that has migrated back into Tampa Bay with the warm temps is the mackerel. Both king mackerel (kingfish) and Spanish mackerel have started showing up in numbers and we are expecting our near-shore fishing charters to get better every day as spring continues heating up. Some days we target these fish in Tampa Bay and other days we target them in the crystal clear Gulf of Mexico waters near St. Pete Beach. If you have never caught one of these fish you are in for a treat! These fish will rip line off your reel like there's no tomorrow and have the drag screaming!
